Hi! I'm Emily, your crafty go to girl. I love all things crafty! I enjoy sewing, scrapbooking, photography, card making, DIY projects, home decor, photo projects, personalized gifts, stamping, jewelry making and just about anything that involves creativity. I run a small Etsy shop called paperpixie crafts. I also have my products in several local shops. I am slowly but surely extending my line of products. My goal is to start filling up my Etsy shop and then eventually open a local boutique. Luckily, I have a wonderful husband who can tolerate my craft obsession, and a great family who is always supportive of my goals. This blog is a sneak peek in to my life and my creative thoughts. I'll be sure to keep you posted with all the cool stuff I see along my crafty journey. Thanks for reading!

Crafty itch scratched with a cute little dress. Learn how to create the "modern smocking" with this toddler dress project.

Photos of last night crafting... as promised.

It wasn't as quick as planned but... it turned out cute- so it's ok.
I had planned on writing my first ever tutorial but I think I'll leave it to the pro and just link you to a pro. Martha Steward explains it all here on her website and ever has a nifty video.
Here's a photo sew along of my project- just for kicks.

Ta-DA! There it is folks a semi-hand smocked dress. It took me about 2 hours but I such a beginner that I'm sure will would take experienced sewers less than an hour to finish these. So try it out and see what you think about elastic thread. Do you think the pre-smocked fabric is worth the hefty price tag? Or do you think it's better to make your own, like I did in this project?
Do you have any other project in mind that use elastic thread? I'd love to hear what you've got in mind. ( =
BTW- This dress will be for sell in my Etsy shop soon. In the mean time, if you are interested in a similar dress for the little princess in your life- feel free to contact me & we'll get your order placed.

Coming up soon... My vintage re-vamped rocking chain project that cost $0. Check back soon to learn how I'm finding cool FREE "stuff" for my new house. ( =

Better late than never... Right?

I know it's been a while BUT... We are finally in our new house! Well... Kinda. We have everything moved and we have officially handed off our old keys. Now... Unpacking... thats another story. ( =Mama and Aunt Joanie came over yesterday and help me start getting things in order. My kitchen and living room are for the most part finished now just for the other rooms. I will share photos of my new little house a little at a time, as I finish unpacking. I will start working on the rest of the rooms a little at a time but right now... I MUST craft.
I feel an urge to break out the sewing machine tonight and finish a easy project so that I will feel accomplished. My poor little Etsy shop has been in vacation mode for the longest and really need some new items listed. Most of my jewelry and little outfits have sold locally before I can even get them photographed and listed in my shop. I promise promise that I will get back to crafty self soon. Stay tuned to see what I whip up tonight. I might even throw in a tutorial. I've been meaning to do that for ages.
Also- I'm feeling so craft room organization post coming up soon too. Anyone have any great ideas for thrifty craft storage in small spaces? I'll take all the pointers I can get.

Since I talked to you last.

Since I talked to you last...
Center: We've been having some major rain & hail storms lately but Katie took this beautiful picture of the clouds rolling in.
1. Playing Uno with Katie while it lightened and the eletronics where unpluged
2. More storm pictures- the rain across the field.
3. I'm on the hunt for this mailbox cover- we shopped Chattanooga last weekend with no luck yet. Our new house has a TN football mailbox that must be covered as soon as we move in since I'm a GA fan and Dylan is an AL fan ( =
4. I've been spazing out in hopes that all my furniture will fit in our new house. The rooms are a little smaller than what we have now... I think. I used the parents.com nursery builder to build my master bedroom shown here.
5.We've been packing in anticipation of moving day. It seems like everthing is in a box around the house but really... we have a long way to go. You don't realize how much "stuff" you have until you try to put it all in a box. We had a big yard sale- and man is that hard work!- the yard sale rid us of some junk but we still have plenty more. The moving date got pushed back since we are getting hardwood floors in the new house- but that will be well worth the wait to get rid of that icky carpet. ( =
6. Katie's going to high school! I missed her 8th grade graduation because I was sick- I started my fertility treatments this month- but since I missed it, Mom took this picture for me. ( = Yay Katie! Now that it's summer time and schools out... it's time to get on our driving lessons. Blue hole road- here we come. ( =
7-10. The summer garden is coming in at mom and dads. I picked some yummy veggies today shown here and I'm about to head home and cook them up for Mr. Dylan. ( =
11. These cute flowers poped up after the big rain storms a few days ago.
12. My cousin Miss. Molly in her UGA swimsuit. Isn't she cute?

We're moving!

Back to my home town. Sure it's just 20 mins away- but moving is still a job. I'll be out of touch since we are in the process of transfering our utilities including internet. Ah- no iternet or cable- that is sure to drive me crazy within a few days. ( =

I'll be busy packing and wishing I was crafting.

Here's our new house....
